JAC-Dan Monthly Update: June 2014

Hello all,

It is a dusty evening in your office. You pull the blinds shut against the window and light a smoke. Those flighty broads have been after you again, but you’ve no time for their wiles. You’re a hard-boiled private investigator, for crying out loud. A detective out to put a halt on the virulent crime spread throughout the city. Speaking of, you decide you should check the files for your current case once more. You open the sepia-toned folder and flick through the contents. A photo of Jerry “Fingers” Halsingberd by the docks. A receipt for a shipment of assorted kazoos. And- what’s this? A document you don’t recognise? It seems to be- surely not! It is! It’s your monthly update on all things JAC-Dan!
Cosplay Clubnight
Early last month we held our annual Cosplay Clubnight! It was a fantastic evening with lots of dancing. And seeing everyone dressed up was fabulous.

A good turnout!
Congratulations to Scott Watkin, who won first place in our cosplay competition! His cosplay of Sajin Komamura from Bleach was pretty impressive (or at least our judges thought so =P)

Second place went to Daria Holden with a cosplay of Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan.

And third was awarded to Rob Stoker and Jake Holmes, with their cosplays of Hoxton and Wolf from Payday.

Commiserations to those who didn’t win, but hey, there’s always next year! ^_^

We also had a dance-off, won by Lucy Vella. Her ancestors would be proud. A video of it can be found here!
Those of you who are part of our Facebook group, our photo album can be found here. we also had photos taken by Falcon Photography, and Mario Czerkirda Photography. Thanks to both of them for going out of their way and doing that- I had no idea who they were to begin with >_<
Picnic in the Park
Towards the end of the month, we had a cheeky picnic at Saltwell Park. It was lovely to get out in the sun, and some of the guys from the Rock Society joined us- they’re a lovely group, they really are.
Making the most of the nice weather!
Events
Well, we’ve just come out of exam season (don’t think about it now, it’s over and done with!) but we’re pretty much done in term time, which means we can’t hold regular meetings in the normal room. However we will be having some unofficial¬†meet ups and such so if you’re sticking around in the area over the holidays we’ll try and have something for you to do! Keep an eye on the Facebook page to stay updated.
We’re still trying to organise some group games over on our Steam group. There’s a community discussion going on at the minute debating which games we should play, so if you’ve a suggestion, weigh in over here.
Some of us are also off to Sunnycon next month, so if you’re coming along try and find us! Personally I cannot wait to see all the costumes =3
Thank you very much for your interest and support.
